Working with a Realtor...why it's in your best interest!


If you're considering buying a new home, then I'd like for you to know how I work, because I want to be the agent you choose to help you in the pursuit of your next home.  Working with a Realtor is in your best interest, so long as you're working with the right Realtor.  I won't lie, you've got many to choose from...too many, actually.  But, we're not all alike, thankfully.  There are differences that set us apart, and those that are important are not what kind of car we drive, the number of people we have working for us, and the number of "deals" we close in a calendar year.  The important differences between Realtors are sometimes the most difficult to see, until, that is, you have either a really good home buying or selling experience with a Realtor...or a really bad one.  From that point forward, I'm pretty sure you'll have a thorough understanding of what differentiates one Realtor from the next.

 

So, here's what you should know about me and how I work...

 

  • First, and most importantly I feel, is that I LOVE MY JOB!  If you've ever had a job that you didn't love, then you know how important this is, and how it can affect your work.  The alarm goes off and you absolutely dread getting out of bed because you don't want to go to work.  Well, I decided a long time ago that I didn't want to live that way, so I found a profession that I love.  Helping to "match" people to their new homes gives me a great sense of accomplishment & enjoyment, so it's easy for me to get out of bed in the morning!
     
  • I have the education and experience to do my job well.
     
  • I work alone, and office out of my home.  This means that I'm my own assistant, I answer my own phone, and I handle all the details pertaining to my clients' home purchases and/or sales personally.  I've tried working for "BIG Real Estate Company", and quickly discovered I don't have "BIG Company" mentality.  Working out of my home also reduces my costs, and I very happily pass some of those cost savings on to my clients in the way of reduced commissions when selling their homes.  
     
  • I don't believe in keeping everything on a strictly "professional" level.  I've become friends with many of my clients, and like friends, I expect and am open to phone calls at odd hours, requests for advice with home improvement project dilemmas, favors needed, and even a last minute "happy hour needed" invitation after a long day.  I like to really get to know my clients, and therefore, often find I've made new friends in the process.
     
  • I'm careful of dotting all my i's and crossing my t's.  Do I occasionally make mistakes?  Of course, anyone who claims they don't is delusional, I say.  But, make no mistake; I do my best to keep errors at a minimum.  I understand that you're putting your trust in me to see that you find you and yours happily situated in the right home, at the right time in your life, and I don't take that trust for granted.  When I do make mistakes, I own up to them, and do what I can to correct the situation and/or to make amends.
     
  • I believe and have been told that I go above and beyond the call of duty.  I absolutely don't mind doing this, for the reasons I've stated above, but in return, I very much appreciate loyalty from my clients.  I ask that they understand that while it's true that I do LOVE MY JOB, I don't do it merely for pleasure...I have a mortgage to pay too.  If my clients believe, and find, that they can rely on me, then I ask that they do just that when they're looking to buy or sell a home.  Calling another agent off a sign, or stopping through an open house without my card in your pocket could potentially mean that I could lose your business, whether or not this is your intention.  Understanding how Agency Relationships work, and knowing what the words, "Procuring Cause" mean, protects your best interests and my business.
